Topic 1 - Overview and Challenges in Diagnosis and Treatment

Purpose
To advance physicians' knowledge about von Willebrand Disease (VWD)

Target Audience
This activity has been designed to meet the educational needs of physicians involved in the care of patients with VWD.

Program Overview
Physicians face many challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of VWD. This activity has been designed to address some of these issues, including the newest methods of diagnosis, treatment options such as prophylaxis verses on-demand treatment regimen, and use of factor-replacement therapy for surgery.

Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Explain a clinical overview of VWD
  • Describe the challenges and newest methods of diagnosis
  • Review the latest treatment options applicable to the patient population

The Postgraduate Institute for Medicine(PIM) designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
