Dr. Rand is professor of pathology and medicine in the hematology division of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York. He is also director of hematology in the Advanced Coagulation and Protein Separation Laboratories at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx.

For the past 7 years, Dr. Rand has been awarded grants by the National Institutes of Health for his role as principal investigator on the topic, "Reduction of annexin-V in antiphospholipid pregnancy loss." In 2006, he won the Moses Research Award from the Montefiore Medical Center.

Dr. Rand received his medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine and completed his post doctoral training at Montefiore Hospital-Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. He is board certified in internal medicine and hematology. Dr. Rand's professional memberships include the American College of Physicians, the American Heart Association, the American Society of Hematology, the Harvey Society, the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis, and the New York Academy of Medicine.
