Topic 6 - Confronting Issues in VWD Therapy: A Case Study Review

Purpose
To advance healthcare professionals' knowledge of acquired von Willebrand Disease (VWD) through the review of diagnostic and treatment case studies

Target Audience
This activity meets the educational needs of physicians involved in the care of patients with VWD

Program Overview
Physicians diagnose, treat and monitor patients with VWD every day, but each case and situation is unique to the circumstance and patient's lifestyle. During this activity, we will present diagnostic and treatment case studies from two thought leaders in the field of VWD. The content will cover surgical management, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatric, and adult case reviews. Each case study will present an excellent opportunity for you to re-examine how you diagnose and treat VWD, and whether or not there may be alternate options available.

Educational Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:

  • Identify current and emerging diagnostic tools through individual cases
  • Describe ongoing and advancing treatment options pertaining to these circumstances
  • Specify VWD lifestyles and treatments, and how the two should complement each other

Credit Designation
The Postgraduate Institute for Medicine (PIM) designates this educational activity for a maximum of 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
